Flights- I flew from Melbourne to London, Heathrow airport then from Athens back to Melbourne. I paid around $1500aud Prices will range depending on the time of year and day you travel on. Flight price will also vary depending on what country you’re flying from.
Accommodation- There is a range of places you can stay at from hotels to air bnb’s, to hostels. Prices range depending on the country. Staying at hostels you will be paying around $25-40aud a night. Staying in air bnb’s you will be paying around $100aud a night. While staying in hotels you will be paying around $200aud a night. I stayed in 3-star hotels with 3 other friends so we paid $80aud a night per person.
Food- I tried to stick to a max of $30aud a day. I don’t eat breakfast so it meant I spent less on food. A lot of our hotels had breakfast included in the cost anyway. Some days I only spent $20aud, other days if we ate at a restaurant it cost $20aud for one meal. It all averaged out and I stuck to roughly spending $30aud a day.
Shopping- I didn’t buy too many souvenirs while in Europe, but I did a lot of shopping trips in different countries. I put aside $600aud for shopping. I only spent $350aud.
Travel- I did a Contiki while in most of Europe, so I didn’t have to spend too much on travel as we had the bus driving us most places. We did catch trains, and taxis though on nights out or before and after the tour. I spent less than $100aud on extra travel.
Attractions- As I did the Contiki tour, lots of the attractions were included in the price of the tour, there were extra add ons and things we did before and after the tour, I spent a total of $1000aud in 25 days. I spent an average of $40aud on attractions a day.
In total, I paid $180aud a day, including the Contiki tour cost but not including Flights, insurance, visas and bonds.
