So normally I travel in the summertime and everything is easy to pack some shirts, shorts and dresses. What to pack in the winter however can be a different story. So here is what I’m packing for my trip to America and Canada for 5 weeks. This guide can be used for winter in any country for a trip longer than 2 weeks.

Warmth

  • Thermals- Thermals are a great base to keep the warmth in so if your travelling to a cold place like Canada which is still at -7 degrees celsius in February your going to need to layer up
  • 2 thick woollen jumpers- I like the thick one best, like why buy thin ones for winter when you will just be cold, plus the thick ones look better, well that’s what I think
  • 2 jackets- so I’m taking my fluffy jackets because if you know me, you know I love my fur and fluff. Fake fur of course! But if you’re not into that long coats work well
  • 2 normal jumpers- as well as the woollen ones and fluffy jackets, I wear the normal jumpers at night around the hotel or to sleep in and for casual things during the day.
  • 1 down jacket or snow jacket- Again obviously if you’re going in winter some places get very cold so having a thick jacket that you can use as a top layer is good and bonus points if it’s waterproof
  • 2 beanies- to look cute and keep your ears warm
  • 2 scarves- 1 to use on the plane as a blanket, but both to keep warm on the colder days
  • 1 pair of gloves- I have some thermals gloves that I use to keep my fingers warm but I don’t bother with snow gloves unless I’m going to be snowboarding or skiing

Clothes

  • 5 shirts- again there can be some cool days but also some warmer days so a T-shirt over thermals is one of my favourite looks, I also take some nice shirts for dinners and bars
  • 3-5 Long sleeve tops- I take some nice cropped ones for going out to bars and restaurants at night as well as some normals ones for during the day.
  • 2 pairs of jeans- I live in my jeans, so I take one black pair and one blue pair then mix and match my tops and jumpers/jackets
  • 1 pair of skins- I also usually live in my skins so I wear them either under my jeans, on the warmer days or if I’m doing a big walk/hike
  • 2 skirts- I only take 2 skirts in case of nice weather or I’m going out, a long skirt could work during the day if you were wearing thermals or stockings underneath
  • 1 pair of trackies- for the cooler nights
  • 1 pair of PJ shorts- for the warmer nights
  • 1 PJ long sleeve top- for the cooler nights and for the warmer nights one shirt from my clothes during the day

Intimates

  • 15 pairs of underwear- depending on how long you are away you will need to do a wash, either in the shower or going to a laundry mat
  • 6 bralettes- I don’t like wearing proper bras but I still need something while I’m out and about all-day most people will take normal or sport bras
  • 10 pairs of socks- 5 long black to go with the docs or boots and 5 short white to go with the converses

Other

  • Towel- I just take a small microfibre towel that drys fast as most hotels if not all provide you with towels to use
  • Toiletries- I won’t go into everything I’m taking because everyone has different stuff, but medication is my highest on that list. I spoke about what medication I take with me in my carry on packing guide.
  • Packing cubes/dry sacks- I like to organise my suitcase or bag so I know exactly where everything is and packing cubes and dry sacks just make it that much easier and it also helps to free up some extra space

So that is all I will be taking with me to my winter in America and Canada this year. Be sure to subscribe to my blog posts on the home screen to read my blog post while I’m in America. If you would pack anything else let me know what and why by commenting below.
